I am the proud owner of a Jeep Wrangler JK now and I have already been making some tweaks to the basic setup. These 7 mods are essential for any new Jeep Wrangler JK. Enjoy!
These roll bar grab handles attach to the roll bars and provide that extra place to hang on to when you are off-roading. Purchase two sets if you have an Unlimited (4-door) model. We have been using them for about three months and have no complaints at all. I purchased the Roll Bar Grab Handles for Jeep Wrangler (Pack of 2) on Amazon.com (here) for just under 20 bucks!

The first thing I learned about Jeeps is that Torx bolts are used on many components. I recommend getting a set of Torx wrenches and a set of Torx sockets. You will use them repeatedly if you are doing any modifications to your Jeep. In addition, they are absolutely necessary for the first time that you remove the top and doors on your Jeep.
I purchased the TEKTON 9-piece Star Key set (pictured below) from Amazon for a little over $10.
I also purchased the Neiko® 10071A Torx Bit Socket Set, T8 – T60, S2 Steel | 13-Piece Set (pictured below) from Amazon for $17.
These are one of the cheapest mods you can purchase for your Jeep, and they save you lots of time and frustration once you remove the Torx bolts holding on your hard top. Installation is beyond easy–remove the existing Torx bolts and install these. No tools are required for installation of the knobs or to remove your top in the future. I purchased the Jeep Wrangler JK Hard Top Quick Removal Change Kit set of 6 Tee Knobs on Amazon for $8.

Once you have removed your top and doors, you will need to have your side mirrors for visibility. In some states, the mirrors are required by law. Luckily, Rugged Ridge makes a quick release mirror that you can attach whenever your doors are removed. The set comes with two mirrors and it took about 10 minutes to install the brackets. The mirrors are easily added/removed using a knob (no tools required). Some aftermarket mirrors have vibration issues, but these are rock solid. I purchased the Rugged Ridge Textured Black Rectangular Quick Release Mirror Kit pair for $60 on Amazon.
The stock headlights were simply not cutting it. I needed to be able to see at night! These are the brightest and sharpest headlights I have ever owned. The installation took about 30 minutes for the pair and the LED light set came with all of the required connectors, including anti-flicker modules. I have had them for about 2 months now and have zero complaints about them. I purchased the Turbo Pair 7 Inch Round Black Led Headlight with DRL Hi/lo Beam for Jeep Wrangler for $135 on Amazon.

My Jeep didn’t come with a hitch or the wiring harness. Luckily, this was a super-simple addition. The entire install took about 20 minutes to complete and required minimal tools (sockets, box wrenches and a torque wrench). The installed hitch looks sharp and works as it should. If you don’t have a hitch on your Jeep, this is a worthwhile investment. I purchased the Rugged Ridge Black Receiver Hitch Kit with Wiring Harness for $72 on Amazon.
I needed a roof rack that could haul my kayak, canoe, lumber, bikes, furniture or whatever else I could fit on top. After reading several reviews and talking to other Jeep owners, I settled on the Barricade roof rack. This roof rack took me a few hours to install and is extremely heavy duty. Once the roof rack was installed, I could barely make it flex or move. The one feature I like about this rack is the ability to remove my freedom top and hard top without removing the rack. A few simple turns of the knobs will release the crossbars and allow the freedom panel to be removed with ease. If you are needing a durable, heavy-duty rack, I highly recommend this one. I bought the Barricade Textured Black Roof Rack on Amazon for $300 with free shipping. The price does fluctuate, so keep an eye out for a good deal.
This is all for now. I will be adding new products that I discover in the future. Stay tuned for part 2!
And as always, happy Jeepin!
